Songs Without Words
Undoubtedly some of the most endearing works ever composed are from the Romantic era. Soaring melodies, rich harmonies, and emotive expression will be on fully display as Mendelssohn's rarely heard orchestral transcription receives its Philharmonic premiere at this concert.

Cirque Goes To The Cinema
This all-new program features Cirque’s awe-inspiring physical feats of power and beauty, paired with musical classics from including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Titanic, and James Bond. Acrobats, jugglers, and aerial flyers will soar high above the heads of the Philharmonic as they perform on stage. (All new choreography and costumes.)

Music from Don Giovanni
Music from one of Mozart’s greatest operas is presented here in a charming and graceful arrangement for winds. Saint-Saëns’ Septet truly is one of the most delightful chamber works of the nineteenth century. In it the composer pays homage to Rameau, whose works he edited.

Beethoven's "Pastorale" Symphony
Dubbed 'recollections of life in the country', Beethoven’s symphony is an homage to the great outdoors. Principal Violist Derek Reeves and Principal Cellist Andre Gaskins are featured in Strauss's symphonic poem that tells the tale of the knight-errant with the unshakable courage to pursue his dreams.

A collaboration with Fort Wayne Ballet, Coppélia tells the delightful tale of a doctor who has made a life-size dancing doll. Avillage youth becomes infatuated with it and sets aside his true heart's desire, before being saved from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor.

Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert
The Ukrainian classical music and internet star Valentina Lisitsa debuts in Beethoven’s youthful concerto, an homage to Mozart and Haydn. Schubert’s great C Major Symphony lay dormant after the young composer’s death, premiered publicly by Felix Mendelssohn in a performance a decade later.

Peter and the Wolf
Prokofiev's timeless narrative of a boy and his beastly friends is brought to life with a special guest narrator. This musical fable is for the child in all of us, preformed with dancers from Fort Wayne Ballet along with selections from Prokofiev's Classical Symphony and Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.

From the East
Arutunian imbued this opening work for brass with folk tunes from his native Armenia. Both Husa and Janáček melded Slavic influences into their contemporary works, and Prokofiev’s first string quartet was actually commissioned by the United States Library of Congress.

A Collaboration in Celebration of FORT WAYNE CIVIC THEATRE’S 90thANNIVERSARY
The Phil joins forces with Fort Wayne Civic Theatre in this first time collaboration to celebrate the Civic’s 90th Anniversary. Fort Wayne luminaries (and Civic ”alumni”) Christopher Sloan and Manna Nichols headline a cast of outstanding vocalists from Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. This evening features popular songs from South Pacific, Oklahoma!, Carousel, Cats, Evita, Phantom of the Opera, and many more.

Pictures At An Exhibition
Pictures at an Exhibition was written to commemorate a painter who provided Mussorgsky great artistic inspiration. The work builds to a dramatic conclusion with the Great Gate of Kiev, its stirring brass chorales and clanging bells bringing the season to a brilliant conclusion.
